What is ADHD?

ADHD refers to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

It is a neurodevelopmental condition that, in adults, translates into a constant struggle with organization, time management, and meeting commitments.

Many receive a diagnosis late, after years of interpreting these difficulties as “lack of willpower.”

With the right support, it's possible to understand how the brain works and develop strategies that truly work in the work and personal life of adults with ADHD!

Main types of Anxiety Disorder

The manifestation of Anxiety may be slightly different when we talk about children and adolescents:

Types of Anxiety Disorder in Children
em Crianças

  • Separation anxiety: intense fear of moving away from parents; it can arise as school refusal.
  • Selective Mutism:speaks normally at home, but blocks in other contexts (school, consultations).
  • Specific phobias:exaggerated fear of objects or situations (animals, dark, thunderstorms, injections).
  • Social anxiety:extreme shame and fear of public speaking or being judged.
  • Generalized anxiety: constant concerns (health, school, parental safety), with tension and “anticipation of the worst”.

  • Social anxiety: intense fear of judgment in interactions (presentations, sports, parties).
  • Generalized anxiety: constant worries (future, grades, body, relationships), with tension, irritability and insomnia.
  • Panic disorder:sudden attacks of anxiety and fear that they will happen again.
  • Agoraphobia: avoid places with many people (transport, shopping centers) for fear of not being able to leave.
  • Specific phobias:exaggerated fear of situations such as heights, flight, driving, blood, injections.
  • Health-related anxiety: excessive concern with diseases or use of medicines.

Symptoms of ADHD in Adults

  • Holidays and weekends with nothing to do cause more anxiety than relaxation.
  • People around you tell you to slow down, but slowing down seems impossible.
  • You make important decisions in the heat of the moment and regret them later.
  • In a meeting, you interrupt before the other person finishes speaking, unable to stop yourself.
  • In a queue, a conversation, or a meeting, waiting for your turn is genuinely difficult.

  • You start a task at work and suddenly find yourself doing something else without realizing how you got there
  • You forget meetings, deadlines, or commitments even when you've written them down
  • Your desk, emails, and calendar are a chaotic mess that's hard to manage
  • You reread the same paragraph three times and still don't retain anything
  • Even when sitting, your mind doesn't stop, and thoughts race.

💡 If any of these situations sound familiar to you… we are here to help!

Diagnosis of ADHD and its subtypes

The diagnosis of ADHD should be carried out by a specialist (psychologist, psychiatrist, pediatrician, among others) and is based on a comprehensive clinical evaluation, which may include interviews, questionnaires, and psychological tests.

At NeuroImprove, we also use Quantitative Electroencephalography (qEEG), a complementary examination that allows for a more precise diagnosis and, therefore, more effective treatment.

Depending on the predominant symptoms, ADHD is divided into 3 subtypes:

What other families are saying

My daughter had a lot of anxiety that was even affecting her at school level but thanks to this treatment she improved immensely. This would be very noticeable in school and it does not seem the same. I recommend.
